Potsdamer Platz is an important public square in the centre of Berlin, Germany, lying about 1 km of the Brandenburg Gate and the German Parliament Building.
It is named after the city of Potsdam and marks the point where the old road from Potsdam passed through the city wall of Berlin at the Potsdam Gate.

In nowadays, Potsdamer Platz became the center of light art. Every year, the Berlin Lights Week transforms Berlin into a luminous stage for the colorful sights of the city. Numerous national and international artists create a variety of lighting concepts and installations that can be seen throughout the city towards the end of the year.
Since 2010, Potsdamer Platz has been the center of events. For around two weeks, original lighting effects were created in the evening, unique photographs projected onto the facades of the skyscrapers, trees and water were illuminated. The big city oasis Pianosee between the musical theater and Reichpietschufer transforms into a stage for colorful audio-visual water spectacle with fountains and lighthouses made by Consortium Eventtechnik. The large variety of colorful impressions promises numerous light lovers always a radiant experience.
